Wishlist Share

About Course

This training program provides essential knowledge for safe entry and rescue operations in confined spaces within construction, industrial, and oil & gas environments. It focuses on hazard identification, risk control, and compliance with safety standards.

The course covers confined space hazards such as oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, flammable atmospheres, and restricted access. Emphasis is placed on entry procedures, atmospheric testing, ventilation, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Participants will also learn rescue planning, emergency response, and roles and responsibilities. Upon completion, individuals will be equipped to safely enter confined spaces and respond effectively to emergencies.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand confined space hazards and risks
  • Perform safe entry procedures
  • Use monitoring and ventilation systems
  • Apply PPE correctly
  • Respond to confined space emergencies

Course Content

Topic 1: Introduction to Confined Space Entry
Confined space entry refers to entering and working in areas that are not designed for continuous occupancy and have limited access and exit. These spaces include tanks, vessels, pipelines, silos, and underground chambers. Understanding what constitutes a confined space is essential for ensuring proper safety measures are applied. Confined spaces present serious hazards such as oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, flammable atmospheres, and restricted movement. These risks can quickly become life-threatening if not properly controlled. Identifying these hazards is a critical step before any entry is allowed. A structured approach, including proper authorization, hazard assessment, and use of safety equipment, is required to manage confined space work safely. Awareness, training, and strict adherence to safety procedures are essential to prevent accidents and ensure safe entry and operations.

  • Lesson 1: Definition and Importance
  • Lesson 2: Hazard Identification
  • Lesson 3: Roles and Responsibilities

Topic 2: Confined Space Entry Procedures
Confined space entry procedures are designed to ensure that all work inside confined spaces is carried out safely and under controlled conditions. Before entry, a Permit to Work (PTW) must be issued, confirming that hazards have been identified, risks assessed, and all necessary safety measures are in place. Key procedures include atmospheric testing to check oxygen levels, toxic gases, and flammable atmospheres before and during entry. Proper ventilation must be provided to maintain a safe environment, and continuous monitoring is required to detect any changes in conditions. All personnel must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety procedures. Communication between entrants and attendants must be maintained at all times, and emergency arrangements must be ready before entry begins to ensure a safe working operation.

Topic 3: Rescue and Emergency Procedures
Rescue and emergency procedures are critical for ensuring the safety of personnel working in confined spaces. A detailed rescue plan must be prepared before entry, outlining the methods, equipment, and responsibilities required to respond effectively in case of an emergency. Proper planning helps ensure that rescue operations can be carried out quickly without putting additional personnel at risk. Rescue operations should prioritize non-entry rescue methods whenever possible, using equipment such as lifelines, tripods, and winches. Trained rescue personnel must be available, and all necessary equipment should be readily accessible at the worksite. Continuous communication between entrants and attendants is essential for early detection of emergencies. Workers must be trained in emergency response procedures, including raising alarms, stopping work, and evacuating the confined space safely. After an incident, proper first aid, reporting, and investigation must be conducted to prevent recurrence. Effective emergency procedures help minimize injuries and ensure a safe working environment.
